OBEDIENCE AT CRUFTS 2021
The Kennel Club can confirm that the Inter Regional Rally Competition is expected to go ahead on Thursday 15 July at Crufts 2021 and the Inter Regional Obedience Competition is expected to go ahead on Friday 16 July.
Unfortunately, as there has been no qualifiers the Obedience Championship will not take place at Crufts 2021. Similarly as there has only been one qualifier the Obreedience finals will also not take place at Crufts 2021. Those teams who competed at an obreedience heat in 2020, and gained points will have their points carried over for Crufts 2022.

The Kennel Club has announced today that Crufts 2021 will take place next year on the new dates of 15 -18 July at the NEC Birmingham.
Crufts, which will be celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2021, was due to take place on 11 – 14 March 2021, but with much of the UK in a second lockdown and events and exhibitions still not being able to be held it was looking very unlikely that Crufts in March was a foreseeable option.

Due to the ongoing adverse impact of Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) for dogs and owners, The Kennel Club is supporting a call to review and reform the system which restricts and controls public spaces.
The organisation is backing a petition which highlights the often inadequate public consultations held by local authorities, the limited opportunity that local residents have to challenge any Orders and the corresponding negative impact of PSPOs on dogs and their owners – and ultimately is seeking a government review and reform of the process.

In light of the national four-week lockdown that began in England last week (5 November), the British Veterinary Association (BVA) and The Kennel Club (KC) have announced the following changes to the Canine Health Schemes (CHS) in order to follow the new guidelines and restrictions, and also continue to process submissions.
As of Thursday 5 November, the CHS office is closed and the team are working remotely.
Impact on veterinary practices
England: As part of BVA’s guidance to veterinary practices, how practices are able to operate and which services they will be able to offer in terms of health testing will be dependent on individual practice factors such as staffing levels, building layout, as well as the vets’ professional and clinical judgement, and we would urge all owners to respect their individual vet’s decisions in this matter.
